She has earned quite many followers in these six months. According to Aisha, Hotel Guruprasad is a good vegetarian option in Kollam. After breakfast, we are going to Munroe Island. This video will have good food and good scenery from Munroe Island. First we will have breakfast. What is the best item here? Masala dosa. This is a small restaurant with an old-world ambiance. This is normal sitting. There is a family room also. First we will try to see the preparation of masala dosa. This is their special Curd vada. Masala dosa is not yet ready. This opens at 7 in the morning, right? Dosa is being made. Upma is already done. Here we can see parippuvada. After seeing the kitchen, we need to have a good breakfast. Masala dosa and curd vada are specials here. Then there is a banana salad. We have to try that. Masala dosa, puri, and fruit sarbath. Aisha has taken a piece of puri with the masala. How is it? Masala is good. Normally we don’t take chutney with puri. We eat puri with masala. They gave chutney. We can take it if we wish. Or we can try vada with chutney. Let me try masala dosa. I love chutney more than sambar. Chutney is superb. This is made with green chilies and coconut. Moderately spicy. Green chili has a special taste. This chutney has that taste. Now I am taking sambar. I liked chutney more than sambar. Traditional masala dosa has a different taste. It won’t be very crispy, but tastes superb. This has that taste. Fruit sarbath has come. Let this remain on one side. This masala has potato pieces. Maybe other vegetables too. No, not many other vegetables. It is just potato, onions and curry leaves. I am trying only the masala, without sambar or chutney. I need chutney. Masala is good. But I need chutney. Masala, chutney and dosa. Superb. This fruit salad has milk and many types of bananas. We will have dosa, sarbath, and then go to Munroe Island. Vada is also there. I am dipping a piece of vada in the chutney. Very crispy vada with coconut chutney is good. Lunch will be from Munroe Island. We will have a small boat ride also. We need to take a ferry from here for Munroe Island. A short drive from Kollam will take us to this ferry. After crossing this, we can drive further. It is a beautiful view. There is a bridge and lot of greenery. Is it Ashtamudi Lake? When we reached this side, there is some celebration going in in this temple. This is a typical local scene. I am so happy. Here we can see him catching the fish. This is for a small restaurant called Apple. He will take it there. Today you got only this fish? But this is a tasty fish, right? Actually, the beauty of the place is more special. We should have come a little early, before it becomes too hot. Either early morning or in the evenings. Once I had spent one Onam here with my family. Ashtamudi Lake looks splendid in the morning. This is Apple restaurant. The board is displayed as Ammachimarude Adukkala( Mothers’ Kitchen) We have to take lunch. But I am fascinated by that arch-shaped green over there. I want to go there. It is sunny, but that is alright. We will go. But I am very thirsty. I will take a lemon soda. What special do you have? Tube soda? Does it have lemon in it? Lemon and some other special items which are our own. You will get this only here in Kerala. So let us have the tube soda which is available only here. We got a tube and a pint glass. In the pint glass, there is a mix of fruit juice, poppy seeds, ginger powder and all. We have to pour it into this. Almost like full jar soda. Good, it is refreshing. After this, we will take a boat trip to that place. It is very sunny. But it is okay as it is breezy. It is a pleasant feeling inside this. The shade is good, we don’t need umbrella. It feels good. Ashtamudi Lake got its name because of the eight islands present here. Munroe Island is one. That island over there is called Kuthiramunambu. It would be good if we could go there. It looks beautiful from here, with plenty of coconut trees and small trees or bushes. We can’t see properly from here. We are not going that far as it is too hot. Now we will go back for lunch. This is karimeen king gayle. I just took the coconut milk for checking the taste. It has the taste of coconut milk, dry red chili and curry leaves. Shallots and coconut oil too. We will eat it when it is cooked well. I am feeling hungry. This is king gayle fish curry. Almost all curries have come. Only crab curry is left. By the time it comes, we will start with the sambar. I served without asking. This looks like homemade sambar. This smabar has many vegetables. Beans and yam I think. This is crab curry. I served rice and sambar. We have Palavaka fish fry. We bought this just now. This is king gayle karimeen. We need the gravy also with the fish. Let me also take one piece. This is crab curry with coconut and mango. When I see this, I am reminded of scorpion king. There is drumstick also in this. Crab legs. Let me try with sambar first. I mixed the sambar with rice. Now cassava also. I am taking cassava with mango pickle. We usually eat cassava with fish curry. This is cassava with mango pickle. Sour and salty pickle with well-cooked cassava. Sambar and rice mix to go with it. As I told you, this is like homemade sambar. Taste is also like that. Yes, even the pickle. Shall we try palavaka fish? Oaky, then let it be karimeen first. How is it? Rich taste of coconut milk. We have to be careful about the thorns. Whether it is big or small. Let me take it with the gravy and onions. Coconut milk has cooked well. It has a caramelized taste. It has the taste of dry red chili, pepper and curry leaves. I can’t let go of this shrimp. Fried shrimp. It is entirely edible. We can eat whatever vegetables we want. This is a homely meal. We have to taste the mango pickle in between. For getting that typical local flavor. Crab leg. It is a small crab. So it is a little difficult to take out the flesh. But the flesh is very soft. It is very good with rice or appam. Let me try another fish. This is good. I liked crab curry. I liked fish fry also. But karimeen is the best. Don’t know whether it is because of coconut milk. I liked it a lot. We are having food on the banks of backwaters, looking at the fishermen and their catch. Green chili. When green chili is put in curry, it is not very hot. But it is tasty. I don’t know whether everyone will like this. You haven’t tried? You should. They give water. But I love to have rice soup more than water. Hot rice soup with salt or a good rasam. A dilute rasam. For thirst, we have to drink water. If it is rice soup, that becomes special. As Aisha told, I am trying gayle karimeen. This is a little different from the normal preparation of king gayle karimeen. In that, karimeen is barbecued I think. This is done without barbecue, just the raw karimeen is added to coconut milk. Whether you call it King Gayle karimeen or kunji karimeen, taste is superb. They said they have added ground coconut in this. So this has the taste of coconut and pot tamarind. After this, we are going for a juice. Is it nearby? Yes, it is. After finishing this, we are going to have a juice. As it is hot, a juice will be good. After lunch, we have come for some cold juice. We will get Munroe special milk sarbath here. This shop is on the way to Munroe Island. We should have this as a welcome drink before going there. But we are going to have this as a conclusion drink. We had a good breakfast, tube soda, and a banana leaf lunch. Now we will have a special milk sarbath. This shop is called Vinod Annande Kada. It has no name. People call this Vinod Annande kada. Two special milk sarbath. We can sit here watching the coconut groves in the background. I took the green one and she took strawberry. Green is pista. This has boost, milk, pista ice cream and fruits. It is a different taste. This is like Boost kulukki. We get this near High Court Ernakulam. They add dry fruits, cut fruits and ice cream with it.
