Today we are heading to Some Sevit Island located at the foot of the Jamsu and Banpo Bridge on the south side of the Han River. You can take the Subway line 3, 7 or 9 and get off at the Express Bus Terminal. You can also take the bus (143, 401, 405, 406 or 8340) and get off at the Banpo Hangang Park. Look for the underpass go straight through it and you will arrive at the Banpo Hangang Park. The Banpo and Jamsu are double deck bridges, Banpo on top and Jamsu is underneath it. The Moonlight Rainbow Fountain is part of the Banpo Bridge. There are 10,000 LED nozzles along both side of the bridge that shoots out 190 tons of water per minute. This makes a stunning view to see at night. These 3 artificial floating islands are in a section of Hangang Park. The park is large recreation area with river side bicycle and walking paths. It is also great for picnics and just enjoying the view of the Han River. The Banpo and Jamsu are both pedestrian bridges. You can take a leisurely stroll across the bridge or rent a bike if you feel the need for speed. Some Chavit resembles a flower bud. Some Gavit, the largest island of the three looks like a flower in full bloom. Some Solvit is form like a seed of a flower. Inside Some Chavit, there is an observation deck on the 1st floor which you can take in the views of the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain. On the 2nd floor there is a buffet restaurant called Chavit Cuisine. Some Solvit offers many water leisure facilities in the Han River. Some Gavit houses a Convention Hall, CNN café, Italian restaurant and a pub with great views of the Hangang River. There is also a Roof Garden Observatory; it is a great place to catch some of the best night views and city back drop. To sum it up, this is a great place to visit during the day or at night. Between the futuristic structures lite up at night and the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain… the views are hard to beat.
