S. Korean military completes naval drill in defense of Dokdo islets


A military drill to better protect Korea’s
Dokdo island was carried out today. According to the Navy a P-3 surveillance plane,
other airborne units, destroyers and other naval warships participated in the regularly
scheduled exercise. Japan continues to lay claim to the Korea-controlled
islets. One of Seoul’s thorniest diplomatic issues
with Tokyo since Japan’s colonial rule of Korea from 1910 to 1945. The Navy has conducted the biannual drills
since 1986.
